Maidreamin is one of, if not the most popular maid cafe in the whole world! They’re all over Akihabara, the rest of Tokyo, and even Bangkok with their 18 locations. So what makes them so popular? Well, it’s a lot of things, but what really set them apart in my mind was their incredible energy. The maids of maidreamin really go all out. You remember when your coach would say some garbage like give it 150% and you just kinda looked at him like, uh that’s impossible? Well, turns out it is possible. Head to maidreamin and see for yourself!
Making your grand entrance
If you’ve been to Akiba before, you have probably noticed maidreamin already. They have cute little maids on many corners handing out flyers with info about their various locations, and on Maid Street they often have a maid on a loudspeaker cheering on passersby! I was lucky enough to get scooped off the streets right outside Akihabara station by the #1 maid of maidreamin, Peace-chan! She’s a spunky little firecracker who really made my time at maidreamin a blast! Normally she’s located at the Odaiba location, so it was really my lucky day!
Arriving at maidreamin is like getting whisked away to a fanciful world where you are treated like a prince or princess. After your basic check-in, the beautiful maids welcome you to dreamland with a magical candle and fun interactive chant, and then the party really starts! For me two things really separated maidreamin from other maid cafes. The first thing was the food.
So good you must be dreamin
The food at maidreamin was much better than I expected. For the most part people go to maid cafes for the entertainment they provide, but the cuisine here was actually really good! Maybe it was the magic spell we cast on it or maybe they just have better ingredients in Dreamland. Or maybe, it’s because they have special staff in the kitchen who look like super cool dudes, but (for the most part) are actually girls! Sometimes maids will also do rotations in the kitchen. Check out all the kitchen crew here. Not only is the food great-tasting, it looks pretty awesome too. Peace drew me a super cute tiger in my drink and wrote a special message on my omelette rice (it says, “We’re waiting for you in Akiba♡”)! Speaking of my omelette rice dish, how cute is that?! Too little bears made of rice all snuggled up under an egg blanket? That’s legit. And there is more where that came from.
The party never stops
While the food is definitely something that separates maidreamin from other maid cafes, the energy is what really stood out to me. These girls are energetic! They are super genki and will transfer that energy to you, perfect for when you need a little pick-me-up after work or on a rainy day. You can do a special raffle-type drawing, take pictures together, enjoy live music, and much more! And if it’s your birthday, get ready to party! The maids’ll get you up on stage and sing to you, give you a special birthday cake, and then give you a special birthday live performance. Speaking of performances, there is never a shortage of them! The girls get up on stage and really put a lot into the performance making you wonder how anyone could keep up that level of energy multiple times a day. It’s pretty incredible when you think about it. Just check out Peace in the video below. She wasn’t even performing on stage, she was just helping to get the crowd into and and look how hype she is!
And don’t even get me started on the theme song. Talk about catchy tunes! “Maidreamin~♪ Maidreamin~♫” it’s never gonna leave myhead, and I’m not sure if that’s a good thing or a bad thing.
Making like a baby and heading out
Once you’ve had your fill of food and fun and you’re re-energized, it’s time to be taken back to the real world. With another candle ritual you’ll be back on your way, but with some more pep in your step. Don’t forget to come back though. As a citizen of Dreamland you can keep coming back and rank up your membership! Can you make it all the way up to a Diamond VIP?!
